With the resolve as strong as the Ghanaian sun, h e c omme nc e d cutting hair for friends after high school. “I found myself without a job, so I started cutting hair at home for friends,” Oscar shares with a reminiscent grin, tracing the roots of his craft.

Yet  life  had  more i n s tore f or O s c ar, bec k oning him to Nigeria—a land ablaze with boundless energy and cultural diversity. At 18, he embarked on a daring quest, driven by an insatiable curiosity and youthful audacity.

“Coming from a modest bac kg round, the challenges pushed me towards Nigeria,” he recalls, revealing the catalyst that ignited his

journey.

In Nigeria, Oscar’s ardor for barbering blossomed into an art for m. He immer sed himself in the world of bar b e r in g an d cosmetology, refining his skills under the African sun.

The vibrant tapestry of Nigeria’s culture, the cadence of its music, and the warmth of its people became the backdrop of his transformative years as a barber. “I started making a living as a barber,” he recalls, a spark of nostalgia in his eyes. Lagos’ bustling streets beca me his canvas, where he honed his craft and kindled a love for the artistry of grooming.

Oscar’s tale was far from reaching its conclusion. His journey led him to Johannesburg, South Africa—a city teeming with vitality and history.

Here, he embraced f or mal   training , d e lving into th e realm of professional barbering. “I attended an apprenticeship school for two years to earn my license. That paved the way for me to open my own shop,” Oscar recounts, underscoring the dedicatio n that paved his path.

Traversing Cameroon and Botswana, Oscar’s journey painted a vivid tapestry of stories and skills across captivating landscapes. Yet, it was his arrival on American

Se ttling in the United States, Oscar carried a treasure trove of experiences and a resolve to forge a haven of human connection.

with clients bring me immense joy,” Oscar states, encapsulating the essence of his shop’s spirited ambiance.

“I ‘v e h ad t h e honor to cut the hair of Ghana’s f or mer president, JJ Rawlings, and to serve musicians and ambassador s from various lands,” he reveals. With each scissor snip, echoes of Oscar’s extraordinary journey resound.
